COSTUME DE BAIN (1913)

Until the 1900s, the swimming suit covered the woman’s body. In 1913, it was transformed into a tight-fitting, sleeveless, one-piece swimsuit as illustrated in this example by George Barbier. These one-piece swimsuits were soon available at the fashionable department stores.
