Painted for the birth of Van Gogh's nephew, the “Blossoming Almond Tree” represents the rebirth of nature in spring and the beginning of a new life. Influenced by the Japanese artist Hiroshige, Van Gogh delineates the almond tree with bold colours and a black outline.
