Text on the reverse side:
The lilac's botanical name, Syringa, comes from the name of a beautiful nymph in Greek mythology. Celtics regarded the lilac as magical as a result of their incredible fragrance. The flower represents affection, and as a gift, expresses confidence that the giver has for the receiver. Illustration by botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840).
