A pattern from a vintage Michiyuki coat, the nandina is depicted. The plant is also known as the “heavenly bamboo” or the “sacred bamboo” in Japan and China. During the Edo period, the plant was used to ward off negativity. With sprays of bright red berries, the plant is used in celebrations and said to bring good luck.
