PATENT OF RING BUOY (1909)

Thomas Kisbee, a British Naval Officer, invented the modern ring-shaped lifebuoy. Dubbed the “Kisbee Ring”, it was made from cork, which was thrown into the water in case of an emergency where the person could then be pulled to safety with the attached rope.
