PATENT OF MAGAZINE FIREARMS (1854)

The Smith & Wesson Company was founded in Norwich, Connecticut in 1852. Later in 1899, the company introduced its most widely used revolver, the .38 Military & Police producing over 6 million units eventually becoming the standard sidearm of American police officers for much of the 20th century.
