The English name "strawberry" comes from the Anglo-Saxon "streoberie". Symbolic of perfection and righteousness, strawberry designs were often used on altars and pillars in churches and cathedrals by medieval stone masons. By the Japanese painter and poet, Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934).
