As soon as Van Gogh arrived in Arles in the South of France, he painted almost daily in the orchard to capture the magnificent blossoms, during which time he painted fifteen orchards and was hopeful that the paintings would be well received as he felt that the subjects had the power to ‘cheer everyone up.’ Artwork by Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890).
