ABOUT THE ARTIST

Eizan Kikugawa was a japanese designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints. He has been trained by his father, who was already a kano painter and a fan maker before he'd eventually become a pupil of Hokusai. Unfortunately for him, he's been described by connoisseurs as a plagiarist of Utamaro's style but later on, ended up developing his own. Eizan focused on prints of beautiful women
