The ‘ribbit’ frog sound was introduced in the early movie days thanks to Hollywood filmmakers who needed frog sounds to simulate a night setting. With their microphones outside, the frog recorded was a pacific tree frog, which happens to be the only species that make the ‘ribbit’ sound, which has now become erroneously synonymous with all frogs in the world.
