Enfield measures 31.74 square miles (82.20 km2). The area was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086 as Enefelde. The meaning of the name is said to either mean the 'open land of a man called Ēana', or 'where lambs are reared'. The oldest pub in Enfield Town is Kings Head on the Market Place - first recorded in 1516.
