ABOUT THE ARTIST


Tatsumi Shimura (1907-1980) was a 20th century print designer specialised in portrayals of beautiful women or bijinga. He created numerous prints exploring traditional Japanese beauty, such as sophisticated hairstyles and beautiful kimonos. Interestingly, he often depicted garments made of fashionable contemporary fabrics.
